Must have been a rough go of the interviews. 3/5 (including yours truly) received TBNT emails today. One received the CJO, and no response from the 5th.

Completely honest, I could have done better at one part of the interview, but I felt that the other two parts went pretty darn good. I have no idea what it was that didn't get me through to the DB. Not one reference was called, despite numerous internal recommendations.

The crazy part is the one that was hired has interviews elsewhere and doesn't really want WN. They are just taking the first job offer that they get with the intention of moving to the carrier that they want.

But then again, didn't they send those to everyone they talked to? That had to have been 1000+ guys/gals. They probably won't give invites to everyone just because they talked to them at WAI.
I went to the conference and didn't even get that email! My recruiter seemed disinterested in the whole event anyway. Ugh.

Some additional color for job seekers. Hope it helps you with decisions - especially those with multiple interviews/job offers

Next mediated negotiations are the week of 7/18. The union and the company met this week outside of mediation to try and understand the financial assumptions both sides were using in their forecasting models. The union said that while they agreed on some metrics the company was trying to manage expectations downward as to the value of a pilot career at this company.

For that reason there doesn't seem to be much optimism that an acceptable TA is going to happen any time in the near future.

Barely enough to cover the ones leaving for other airlines. If we can't keep the new hires, i am never going to be able to upgrade again.

I know one class has had six leave in that class alone. That's around 25 percent attrition for that class. That isn't an anomaly. It's a sign of the times. When all the "luv" company spews is vitriol designed to lower our expectations while our friends at other companies are awarded with raises and no concessions, it is easy to see why.
We are at the end of Gary's 30 days and the ball is in swa's court. I suspect that we will see an offer soon that is an increase over TA1 but nowhere close to the platform. I recently flew with an assistant chief who said they are being summoned to Dallas and that he believes that we will be lowballed once again. He said that the disconnect between those writing the checks and the pilots is huge and that they truly have no idea what they are up against in terms of unity.
Fortunately our union has come together and nearly everyone, even a lot of former Koolies, are on the same page.
It's a great place to work. I truly enjoy coming to work here. We need a contract, though, and I think a lot of pilots are tired of carrying the company's water during crises.

Yeah, I was wondering whatever happened to the "contract within 30 days" that our illustrious leader stated. Hopefully the next lowball offer offends the pilot group into exhibiting their displeasure in a more "vocal" way. Apparently that's what it's going to take to get their attention.

Why do you want to work for SWA, serious question?

To live in a base is about the only thing I can think of.

I chose SWA because of base and the fact I'll never have to do a 11 day trip. I like being productive and enjoy getting more days off than some of my friends.

As much as people complain about the negotiations, this place is a cake walk compared to other airlines. Get the pay and retirement on par with the others and I'll be happy.

New hires leaving is a sign of the times. People will go to the first airline that calls and if that's not where they want to be they'll keep their apps open. It's not 2008 when only SWA was hiring. People are leaving UAL for DL, DL for SWA, etc. It's finally a buyers market and I'm glad. Means pay and benefits for pilots will be in high demand.

Which sadly will never happen.
