Yeah, it's a nice picture of dckozak. Unfortunately, she had it taken 30 years ago.

As far as the night flying, it often is a choice. If you are senior, and you're night flying, it's generally your choice (unless your trip gets revised). Many people want the trips that pay 6 days of pay for 4 days of work, deadheading out of or near their home. It's very easy flying. Or they want weekend layovers in specific locations, at or near their home. I can't get pure night flying lines with weekends or double deadheads if I tried. We fill in our schedules with these types of trips to minimize time away from home and fill in gaps so we don't have to stay in Memphis for any time, unpaid. But we often do this by choice. It's a deal with the devil.

Nothing worse than a day, or half day in Memphis in a hotel, not getting paid. So we fill it in with a night trip. Don' have to do it, but we want the extra money, and no gap in Memphis, especially if we don't have a crashpad.

I would recommend FDX and not even think about it. Cutting through all the minutia of QOL, commuting, FA's, etc. .....all valid btw, at the end of the day? It's stability. Because QOL, commuting, FA's....all....go away if you don't have a job to begin with.

There are pro's and con's and this and that but at the end of the day it's stability.

Quote: I am in indoc at Fedex now, I made a good decision to leave my previous employer. The systems they have in place here to support the pilots is pretty good. In my class the airbus went junior, the MD11 guys were handpicked and started a day earlier than everyone else. There is only going to be one more 777 spot for the year based on the current training letter for new hires. CGN and HKG have no openings so you would plan on the 767, 757, Airbus, all Memphis, or if you have the quals they could pick you to fly the MD11.
What do you mean by quals to fly the MD-11? What if you have previously flown the MD-11 does that pretty much guarantee you'll get the MD-11?

Financially, you are much better off going to FedEx. Assuming, things are the way they are now. The pension is unmatched. No B plan will ever match a fully funded A plan. Delta on the other hand will probably be a more fun career since you will interact with people throughout your career. I have a good friend at FedEx and he tells me that it's a very lonely job at times. Can't go wrong either way. Personally, I could never fly cargo due to my fear of a load shift on takeoff. Scary stuff.

A fear of a load shift is a valid reason not to fly cargo? I'd say no it isn't. And job is only lonely if you make it so. There are enough good guys to hang with or if you want to do your own thing, you can.

Load shift? No.

Lithium batteries? Yes.

Under the current regulations, it's not a matter of "if" a lithium battery fire is going to bring a cargo airplane down...It's when.

Back when this forum started, lots of guys had "good" avatars to show when they posted. Somewhere along the way, many either stopped posting or changed them to something boring, like pics of an airplane, boat or nothing at all.

I'm always thrown-off by your avatar, thinking you fly for Brown. In any event, I think most would agree (even our female pilots on here) that it is a very nice picture you took of the UPS delivery girl. The lighting, the contrast, all very artistic.
