Quote: In Case you did not know.....

The mission of the Air Line Pilots Association is to promote and champion all aspects of aviation safety throughout all segments of the aviation community; to represent, in both specific and general respects, the collective interests of all pilots in commercial aviation; to assist in collective bargaining activities on behalf of all pilots represented by the Association; to promote the health and welfare of the members of the Association before all governmental agencies; to be a strong, forceful advocate of the airline piloting profession, through all forms of media, and with the public at large; and to be the ultimate guardian and defender of the rights and privileges of the professional pilots who are members of the Association.

What am I doing wrong?
Just like you volunteer, so do I. I'm in a committee attending meetings and trying to keep us from putting one into a mountain down in South America, I do it for free. I do exactly what the union tells me to do. I support the group. Iiiiii don't ttttttt cleannnnnnn. That's what's wrong. I'm not hating on u. I used to help with cleaning until they took our premium pay, medical, mandatory non rev training for free, profit sharing, check in policy, etccccccccc. All done by email. By cleaning, you're sending the wrong message. That's what's wrong. And no, I'm not miserable here. I love and enjoy flying with the people I do. But helping clean, isn't helping anyone but showing management that we're happy and everything is fine. If they don't go the extra mile for me and my colleagues, to provide us with a competitive contract like any professional deserves, then I wouldn't not go the extra mile to help their OTP BS or anything beyond my duties as a professional pilot. Again, you're sending the wrong message. You affect the rest of us, because if u clean, then they expect all of us to clean. Our LEC chairman down at FLL already got written up for not cleaning while non Reving to attend a union negotiations meeting. So disrespectful to a Captain that has given more than 15 years of dedication and professionalism to this company. That's what's wrong. And yes, he got a call from the chief pilot. Not a friendly one. I hope you get it, if not, oh well. Like you said before. It's your choice. And out of respect of my time, I will respectfully move on and not engage with you again. I hope you understand. You and the rest that clean and do extracurricular activities while on duty that have nothing to do with flying, are sending the wrong message. Just like the guys that don't wear the lanyard. Again, it's your choice, but if you help clean, stand up PAs, no lanyard, I'm not policing, but u are sending the wrong message. Its all about perception and persuasion. Its on uuuu..,,

Just a reminder
We're the second most productive pilots in the industry USA. We're 5 or 6 in compensation. SWA pilots are first in productivity. They don't clean, etcccccccc. SWA compensated them and their FAs and mechanics with a premium contract. Appreciated.REWARDED !!!! What do we get from our management. Nothing, Zeroooo. Low balls and emails changing everything on us, while we have guys cleaning, standup PA, releasing brakes, single engine taxiing unnecessary, taking shortcuts for what reward, instead of flying their routes unless for wx or atc request. Not wearing lanyards to show support for those negotiating for our future. That is what's wrong. I always give my passengers 150% of performance as a professional. I only give JBLU just what I'm supposed to. No more, no less. Because that's what JBLU management gives us. While they're filling their pockets with record profits. I do my part...

Thisssssssssssss.
J/k

Spot on though. Every time I fly with someone not wearing the lanyard, they inevitably clean the plane, single engine taxi, and truly stress about the on-time. After all this company has taken and continues to take, in spite of record profits, I just cannot understand it.

Guys, the company just wrote up the FLL LEC for not cleaning the plane. Let that sink in. It's a slap in the face. They think of you as no better than a janitor. "Oh and you missed a spot."

Jeeze you guys, some of you are so thick.

Cleaning IS ONE OF THE BIG BATTLEFIELDS. The union has made it very clear: Don't clean! The company has made it very clear: We are battling the union on this to the extent that we developed a program to brain wash pilots to clean, and are starting a fear-based campaign to make pilots clean.

THIS IS ONE OF THE FIGHTS. This is NOT a sideshow. It is one of the battles in the campaign.

If you help clean, you are like a new kid on the soccer team kicking the ball into his own goal, giving a point to the company (and, no offense to kids, I did that at least once, too...).

Heck, even the Flight Attendants shouldn't be cleaning. We have cleaners. Let them clean.

I was in a union in a different industry, and when mgt. messed with our pay or working conditions, we would clearly and decisively limit the amount and quality of work we would do (keeping it all legal and safe of course, we just wouldn't do as good a job as we would do if mgt was respecting us). I remember starting to do a common "courtesy" task my work group would do, and my boss told me to stop, saying "we don't do that when they aren't paying us".

This is a battle front, and it does matter, and the union told us clearly to not do this. For cripes sake, please stop playing against your own team.

Divide and conquer IS the playbook. Rejoin YOUR team, please.

Such an awesome place to work! This place is going downhill fast...

I don't care that they'd like us to clean.

Nobody really does it, and it gives us something to rally around. (I'd put it at maybe 5% who still do).

Sadly, it has been for a while. It's frustrating the amount of uneducated guys at blewjet that don't know how this industry works.

Two more dumpster divers today with their bags still in the cockpit. Of course neither one sporting an ALAP lanyard.

My faith in this group to have the MEC and negotiators backs in pretty low.

You should look through the December Chief Newsletter and look at all the pictures that have a pilot in them and see how many are wearing an ALPA lanyard.... Here is a hint! ZERO!!
