You're right it doesn't say can't. It says it's not your responsibility. But if going above and beyond during negotiations, and working off the clock doing someone else's job is part of your culture.
By all means. Make yourself feel good.
Please get your things out of the cockpit before you endulge in janitorial duties so the rest of us can work.

I'm not sure he is management but he is a project pilot. So he works along side management. I know he works with the Vets in Blue events which is admirable. But equating cleaning to being civilian or military is bizarre. Luckily he's in the minority here.

You obviously did not come from the military. We are a part of a team and I CHOOSE to help if able. I don't ASK you to help either. If you commute do you CHOOSE not to help and miss your ride home? I highly doubt it. I WILL do whatever I want.....and you can continue to be embarrassed.

Are you just dumb?
Are you the guy that stands there and says Ah bye bye, with your gloves on, and leaves all your **** in the cockpit while you clean so the next crew can't get started on PILOT duties. Do you want to be a janitor or flight attendant? Please switch jobs.
As a former military guy it hurts me to say this, but I am starting to think the dumbest aviators I have ever met are ex mil guys.
The team we are a part of here is the PILOT team, you need to wake the **** up.

Good point, we should treat our own like when OAL pilots walk by ...head turned and eyes on some random object far beyond that person so as not to make any recognition. If that's the worst thing that happens to you when you go to work...
I agree 100% with the OP. Gloves on and working against the deplaning passenger/passengers on board is a hjuge no-no, but if you have your crap out of the flight deck and you WANT to help, knock yourself out.

This is the way I look at it. I do not ever help clean when I am on duty as a pilot. Period. If I get rushed and forget one of my duties as a pilot, I do not believe the FAA, or company will give a rats A$$ when I tell them I chose to help the FAs clean up spit cups and trash from seat pockets.
However, when I commute, I will help only after all the paying customers have deplaned. I am a patient person and I will sit and wait. (Oh, and don't forget about the old lady in 2A that also paid and is waiting for her wheelchair). Without the customers in the back, we will all be out of a job.. Safety first and stay professional my friends.

NR'd on JB a few months ago... The FA was incredibly generous... like, REALLY generous. I don't usually help out, but in a situation like that I feel a bit different. I asked the FA for a blue glove, the response "Pilots shouldn't be cleaning the plane, get out of here!"
I was floored to say the least. Had to share, wish it was always like that.

I always get my stuff out of the cockpit while pax deplane - so the next crew can get in there (especially when late.)
Then there's the guys that leave all their stuff while cleaning the back. And others that barge in with bags while we're still sitting there packing up.
Or my favorite - the non rev senior CA in the back that waits for MY (sorry Whitehammer) CA to go to the lav (while boarding) then comes up and starts throwing switches. Yeah, I'm typed I got this. What do you need? Are you on the release? We'll ask you to sit in the jumpseat and move the thrust levers for us if we lose all hydraulics and have no flight controls. Until then could you put the temp switch back where it was and go sit down?
