Ha ha ha the only thing wrong was the environment. I was home based and in the middle of the 2008-2011 downturn. We were fat pilots and I could bid reserve and only fly a few days a month. Easy money.

I just jumpseated yesterday with a United captain who told his folks he could get there in an hour, on reserve even though he had just come off a long trip. They boarded the plane a half hour late. The CA showed up right when he said (and the gate had called ahead to KCM/TSA to let them know he was expected, so expedited), and off we went.

I’m all about policy, but I’m also about team play. If I can get there in less that two hours, I’ll let them know. If not or I’m unsure, I’ll say I need two hours. It’s not all about you.

Ya, just call the TSA and tell them you are in a hurry and they will just wisk you through security, happens all the time........

Never

Per the UAL contract he received extra pay for accepting a less than 2.5 hour call out. Not arguing against your point but just want to clarify.... the only thing I would use caution about is telling them one thing and then not being able to deliver. I.e. ya I can be there in an hour, then get stuck in traffic and now they are coming to you asking why you were “late” when you said you can be there in an hour.

I got a ton of the panicked “We need you ASAP!” calls at SkyWest. Even if I was 40 mins away, my answer was always “I’ll do the best I can, but I need a two hour call out”. No reason to screw yourself if you get a flat on the drive in.

if you tell them you can be there in less than 2 hours and are not able to for whatever reason you will get a missed trip assignment. unless you are already in the terminal I would say I need 2 hours then call the other pilot when I was close to start boarding.

What....I thought all airlines called ahead to KCM/TSA for expedited screening when in a bind like that?

Guys like that are what make OO think it’s okay to change the rules and why we don’t have 200 percent premium pay. People trip over themselves for an airline that could care less about being a team player rofl.

Also he must be so new that he doesn’t know UAL pilots get an incentive for making it an early and this guys does it for free. What a joke
