I suspect there was a little more to it, such as lack of responsible commuting.
See above, he was sitting reserve on the wrong coast... |

Not true. They were sitting reserve in san jose and based in LGA.... when they got called out he would call in sick.. or except the trip for the next day. Then realize he couldn’t make it and call in sick... in the mean time calling every day to ask to sit reserve in SFO...

Also had one get fired two years ago, sitting long call in PDX based in SEA. got assigned a standup and was having trouble getting on a flight. Called the CP and explained his benefits weren't working and asked if he could help get him out of it, CP said you've had 12 hrs to figure it out... So he called in.
point is SKW doesnt fire one for a "simple missed commute" theres always more to the story. Also knew a ORD captain sitting reserve from his home in Redmond. Every time they would call him he would call out. Did this several times until he got called in. Surprisingly didnt get fired. |

Nope. Series of unfortunate events leading to a cancellation. Management wanted to make an example out of him.

Yes i do know it came right TG that they wanted to make an example out of him, And im sure he'll be along shortly to defend himself. Yes he's a good dude who went to the same flight school as I did and fortunately was picked up promptly at QX. Im aware of the boarding issue as well. Was knew and possibly took some ill advice, but didnt want to drive the 2 hrs, and shouldn't have gotten the chief involved. And from his own admittance had higher than average call outs on probation (due to illness mostly) so to my point its never ONE occurrence, its true in this case and in nature that its a series of events. (with a dash of good or bad luck) |

Sounds like a “good example” because no one has heard that story but you.... go ask the Envoy pilots about the firing a guy for a tcas/navigational error... there are stories everywhere...
