Again, what I am asking is if a serious tanking of the economy was to occur how things would possibly be different now than in the past...
Impossible to predict. This is a different Co. then the one in place the last downturn.

That still stands as far as I know, need collateral or co-signer today, which was not the case prior to 2008.
Yeah, the risk vs reward (debt vs earnings ratio) of the consumer decision becomes heavily skewed towards risk given an economic downturn.

That’s what I said, money wasn’t available to flight school students. 🤷*♂️

I’m pro alpa but these guys/gals are annoying as hell
Alpa sucks at a regional. Gotta love being brothers and sisters in "unity" with the same mainline that turns us down at the rate of 50%.

That bring said, you Skywest people have ridden on Alpa's coattails and contributed nothing. Enjoy KCM? You're welcome. Many of the safety initiatives, 117 rest rules, things like that are at least partially credited to Alpa. It's about time you guys boot the student council and bring in a union. It'll be less of a sham than what you currently have.

Sounds kind of like when someone takes a swig of milk, discovers it has gone sour, and encourages others to try it.

At least we're getting something to drink.

There’s literally several thousands of pilots on property that would vote yes on it. It would pass if voted on today. Simmer down and take your frustrations out on the previous generations of OO pilots that kept voting it down.

While I didn't intend this thread to become an ALPA debate, I'll throw my hat in the ring and say I agree. If an ALPA vote was put in place now or in the very near future I believe it would pass, and I would be one of the yes voters. The old timers who have the "Its the way we always have done it" attitude and the others who are anti union are now in the minority. The issue is that I doubt this vote will ever actually happen, the company knows how to keep the pilot group subdued...we get all worked up about some issue and all the talk is about how badly we need ALPA then suddenly a new piece of QoL policy is signed off on and everyone quietens on a union til the next upset occurs and the cycle continues.

The organizing committee will keep missing perfect opportunities and the company will keep staying 2 steps ahead.

This. Your last raise was well-timed by SGU.

Go pound sand! The ALPA koolaid is crap. The last thing I want is my money to go to any Democratic/Liberal politicians. Nope no thank you.
But I’ll give you thanks for your contribution to whoever you want though.
