What is the maximum hours for IOE??
Hey guys!
I hope everyone in here is enjoying their holidays...
Right now, I am doing my IOE.. so far, I have flown like 40-50 hours
and sadly still didn't get the sign-up for the line check..
my visual approach and landing are still weak..
all my classmates finished their the line check within 30 hours..
I don't want to compare with them..
I am very frustrated that I am not there..
Anyway, what is the maximum hours for IOE?
and what happens next?
Thanks in advance!

I’ve heard of people getting up to 100 hours. Visuals are weak with many people, even after IOE is complete in. Landings. Well. They should be coming together but get as many in as you can. Don’t compare with others. They’ll all say how “well” they are doing, but in reality who knows. Good luck. Consider yourself lucky. Back in the day, 50 hours of IOE was all that you were allowed before they cut you off.

What airplane are you on? CRJ or ERJ? Because the ERJ side its more challenging on the visuals, so, if you are frustrated it will make things a little more complicated, you do what you're got taught in training, eventually, you will get there. Back four years ago, brand new FO's were getting up to 150 hours of IOE, now they are captains on the CRJ side. It takes time to get where you need to be, need to decompress and do it again and again. good luck bro.

Visuals are where most new people struggle, so you are not alone. If you're on the ERJ, visuals are probably slightly more challenging because of the automation.
As soon as you are cleared for a visual, look where you are in relation to the FAF, then just visualize a gradual path to intercept it at its altitude. Be fully configured by the FAF. You'll get there, hang in there.

It took me about 55 hours or so. Close to the end I started asking instructors the same questions you are wondering about because I was worried. They all gave me reassuring answers extremely similar to the ones in this thread. Just keep showing progression and you’ll be ok. I finished ioe in November 2019. Good luck.

Get out of your own head on this. Trust the instructors. If they thought you weren't going to complete IOE, they would have sacked you by now.
IOE is subject to so many variables such as weather, de-icing, butthole ATC, etc. etc.
Just relax and have fun. Fly the plane.
