Default ATL Base

So I was planning on Skywest back in 2019, did the cadet program, spoke to some people there and they said the ATL base was for sure staying and the LGA base was going away soon. Fast forward to COVID and the ATL base closed almost instantly.

I wrote off Skywest completely once this happened because the only real draw was having a base at home between Endeavor and Skywest. My friend recently got a new class date and apparently, his recruiter told him that ATL might be reopening pending new contracts and negotiations?

Does anyone know more about this? I haven't heard or seen anything other than what he told me. I know you can't trust rumors or what a recruiter tells you so I was just curious if there was more to it.

A recruiter has zero visibility on this situation.

ATL flying at the regional level is awful, regardless of what carrier you work for, it's gonna be 5 legs a day, for 4 hours of pay. Stay away.

I wouldn't doubt some validity to it. We've opened/closed ATL twice now I believe. If that tells you anything..... If it were me I wouldn't plan on OO for ATL

Does Skywest have trip/duty rigs?

Hey, there’s a lot of great domiciles at OO, have you considered moving out of Georgia? idk why we have a recruiter blowing that much smoke, but it’s unlikely we get ATL back, at least anytime soon. If you really need that ATL base Endeavor is your only option.

If the “only real draw” for you was OO having a base in Georgia, I’d look elsewhere.

yes, 2:1 duty (1:1 for scheduled duty in excess of 12 hours) 4:1 trip, 4.2 MDG…for line holders only. unless things have changed.

Pretty much what I figured. Most of my family is here and it's really all I have ever known. I guess commuting couldn't hurt, right?

commuting sucks.

Live in base if you can make it happen - move to a OO base or stick with Endeavour
