It's going to be a complicated contract because it has to convince 3 different groups of pilots to stay and not bail to ULCC or WO regionals.
Group 1 - OO lifers - these pilots need to be convinced to be LCA and senior captains that have good seniority and therefore a good QOL. The training department is included in this group as well. When WO LCA make 427 an hour this is going to take some big benefits to keep these pilots because they are keeping the training of young new pilots moving forward.
Group 2 - junior captains-. They already have a bad QOL and schedule. They want to go to a legacy or freight. OO is already trying to hold them back with metering of classes at 2 legacies. The current bonus and GPI program is not going to come close to cutting it. They need money on par with ULCC and a career path to their goal along with QOL improvements on par with ULCCs.
Group 3 - FOs - This is the simple one. They need to offer higher wages to keep them at OO want to upgrade. This has to be better than bailing to ULCC or WO as soon as they hit 500 or 750 hours of 121 time. Making OO a quick stop to get an ATP, first type, and a 1000 hours of 121 time is going to be expensive in the long run for the company to continue to support without getting this group to become captains and fly with the next group of FOs.
Fail to get a good package out in timely manner or fail to convince all of the groups that this is a better deal than moving to some other carrier first chance it's offered and the pilots will walk and you will see attrition numbers exponentially higher as everyone tries to move on quickly.
It's also a race-. It looks like the recession is coming, but air travel demand is hot for months to come and the hiring numbers and growth from the majors and ULCCs is really going to squeeze OO. So will a recession stop the pilot movement and save OO money? or will it take too long to get here and maybe the pilots will get a good deal?

Anyone defending anything about the Skywest operation needs to look themselves in the mirror and explain why they aren't deep into Stockholm Syndrome.
Skywest is Lakes with Jets at this point, and not in any positive way.

Your profile is only weeks old, yet you come out swinging. At least Domino isn’t passive aggressive. Or a fake. He is who he is and I respect his willingness to offer an opinion on a company we all know he works for. You post everywhere. Suddenly. Take your new profile and go away please. To wherever you work. Whoever you are. And I assure you, we don’t care.

Jason I. is that you? You’ve been spending an awful lot of time and effort trashing your employer with zero useful input on change. There are levels of toxicity and you’re breaking barriers my man. Do us all a favor and stay off the SkyWest SAPA and APC forums for a while.

You posted that leadership is running this company into the ground. Throwing rocks in glass houses, I guess.

Those two blatant lies are from this week alone, his whole post history is filled with lies followed by doom and gloom.
This is APC, everyone complains, that’s not what this is about.
