Skywest - without a direct flow - may actually win the captain war. Aviate has ramped up for Mesa and given the projected dates the entire airline will be consumed by United by late 2025. I don’t see how it survives long. I’m 80 pct in ca rankings and I’m supposed to go in just about a year. That means only the 20 pct below me remains in a year. With the dearth of upgrades I don’t see the airline surviving. Skywest on the other hand will likely retain captains longer and last through the hiring blitz.

“Supposed” to go in a year. Ask the envoy pilots that got slowed in flow.. Some one starting today at a “flow/aviate” airline today may not have the same experience… You really think UA and Mesa can keep up with that type if attrition?

I got an email from SkyWest just a couple days ago that I was now confirmed a ATP-CTP class for 4/7 and Indoc on 4/17 on the CRJ. Also got my email from ATP and new hire tasks are available to complete. This is after I was pushed back from my original date on Feb. 3rd ERJ. I asked to get switched to CRJ if that meant I could start earlier and I guess that worked.
My guess is ERJ is going to be delayed until at least summer, but CRJ is starting to open up a bit sooner.

Anyone previously without a class date hear anything recently? I interviewed Nov. 8 with all my hours, finally heard back on December 15 with an emailed CJO but no class date (recruiter just said she'd let me know when she had more info to offer on a class date), and I've been waiting in limbo ever since watching helplessly on these forums as people *with* class dates get pushed back indefinitely.
Surprisingly I just got an automated email today asking me to complete a transfer form and the paperwork seems to indicate a 4/17 class date in SLC (4/7 CTP date). No communication from an actual person or anything so I don't know for sure what to make of it, but curious if anyone else has heard anything.

You can still skip upgrade if you have a degree though it looks like?... Failures upgrading to captain won’t be counted against you?..should be a major red flag. Encouraging/ forcing upgrades is a horrendous idea. Guess the near misses lately aren’t enough to scare people, we apparently need a full on disaster to wake people up. Keeping an airline in business takes priority over safety.

I don't know how many people are sticking around OO just for mainline. Sure, mainline is all the new hires talk about. But it seems like those with a little more experience under their belt understand the hiring music will stop at some point and LCC's offer significantly more earning potential than OO. OO is still losing a lot of pilots to the LCC's. IMO, not having a flow is hurting more than it's helping.
There has been talk about flows to mainline "in the works" at OO, but the consensus seems to be that it's all talk and just a tactic to get people to stay until mainline/LCC hiring stops. Time will tell.
