I heard the PTSD will subside after 6-8 years.

I ended up staying where I’m at actually. Working just 13 days a month is too valuable. ULCC year two pay is more than any OO FO is making. It’s worth the move.

Many good memories back here. But I do have some OO induced PTSD. Attendance SADs. SAPA. Crew Support. Twenty-year regional pilot LCAs. Waiting on hotel shuttles. PRIA this. PRIA that. Reflows. Plane swaps. Two hour sits! Holy crap. I gotta get off this thread. Nightmares up next!
PTSD is Real if coming from OO. So is Metering. So is Suppressing ones career.

Same experience for me. Was at OO for four years, not a peep. Left for a ULCC and United called after the airbus type ride. Then AA, then Delta.

Had my app in at Delta and United (including the United fiasco of moving from airlineapps to their clown shoes internal system) my entire time at SkyWest. Got hired elsewhere. The morning of day 1 of INDOC, I updated airlineapps and the United internal app that I was no longer employed at SkyWest and at my current airline.

Within 7 days had a Hogan invite from United and an assessment invite from Delta. No new type... Only thing that changed was who my current employer was.

Partners would rather not poach from their regional feed, and do everything they can to keep the damage at a minimum.

No doubt, that's a given. It's one of the risks of flying for SkyWest.

I am amazed how many newbies, just starting with the regionals, are unaware of this.

I was employed at SkyWest with CJO’s from AAL, DAL, and SWA. I’m not special yet went direct to American from SkyWest. Play the game, attend a career fair and sign up for meet and greets. You will be introduced with a pilot recruiter who will glance at your resume while making small talk. Utilize a professional prep service for your online applications, resume, and one on one with a pilot recruiter.

It’s tough to dispute the consensus of taking your talents to a ULCC. It’s not the only path though, keep your head up, stay positive, and attend career fairs.

Unfortunately the best path to the major of choice continues to be their opponents wholey owned regional affiliate.

Which leaves skyweezy/Republic/mesa as the last choice, Imo
