I'd say SEA, PDX, PHX and maybe FAT or PSP. At least as far as getting into the base.

SEA, PDX, PHX, FAT, PSP are pretty much impossible within the first year on the RJ. On the Brasilia FAT and PSP are the two most junior bases though.

First off, welcome to SKW, this is a great place to work. I personally know guys that have gotten LAX in less than 3 to 4 months and another got TUS right out of training.

A good question that many of us often ponder!

Some of the FAT people drive up from SMF, or live in the foothills which is actually a nice area. But yeah, most of that town sucks. I lived there for a year, and hope I don't ever have to go back.

I wouldn't mind a FAT base since I could sit reserve at home (almost....I would have to park myself in a Starbucks in Tracy or something, and drive the rest of the way if called.) But live there? No sir....

The nice part about Fresno is proximity to the sierras. The three captains I flew with most often when I was based in Fresno lived in the foothills of Sequoia and Yosemite. I used to bid long call reserve so I could hike in Yosemite on my reserve days. I didn't meet many people based there who actually lived there.

Truth be told, the Q is a better aircraft for the valley. But the story is that UAL keeps extending the death row watch for Republic's Q service out of DEN. They took a lot of heat from the other mountain towns last year for 60% cancellations in some instances. I'm sure they're just trying to find a city pair they can actually complete on a regular basis. Can't wait to see the high and mighty ASE clients at the customer service desk when 3 ASE flights cancel in a row for maintenance or lack of crews... But this way, when Republic lies and blames it on weather, it might actually be true!

If you're into the outdoors, this is a great option. Enjoy the Sierras and the rapid seniority progression.
