If your on reserve you may just break guarantee if it gets busy. But either way..reserve doesn't have to be a paycut...just pick up stuff on an off day (if your not commuting). I was probably home twice as much on reserve vs having a line..and many months by picking stuff up I made > or = the pay i'd make on line. Went 5 months at one point without having a 4 day trip and being one of the most junior pilots in domicile. So its not all bad

Reserve on the brasilia is a bit different lately. The domiciles are small. Picking stuff up on off days is hardly ever an option. It's been almost a year now since we've had a good number of trips in open time. Looking at open time for my domicile now I see only a couple of standups total for the whole rest of the month of June and it's only the 6th. Not a single crew trac trip on there either.

I went 3 months without flying at one point on reserve on the Bro and was call first the entire time. I mostly got called for TDYs being call first. It's nice to be paid to sit around doing nothing, but the paychecks hurt.

Any word or rumors yet if some of these 100 + 100 options or the other E2 order are headed for the XJT side?

XJT is in end-game contact negotiations, so we likely won't hear anything until a TA is on the table or after a vote. The E2 deliveries don't start until 2020, so I doubt we'll hear anything about those for some time. The MRJs theoretically will come before those.

I keep on hearing from different people that XJT is set to make an announcement regarding getting E175s in August. Word is that we'll be getting the 30 that United ordered after all. Take that with a pinch of salt as it is just a rumor, but I've heard it from several different sources independent of each other, all check airman though.

To echo Redbird, deliveries start in 2020, which is like centuries from now. FYI, in 2020 DAL will be retiring 602 pilots, combined AMR 796, United 427, and even FedEx 180. IF, and that's a big if, you are still here in 2020, new Embrarers would be the last thing on your mind.

Thats clearly not how many retire from now until 2020.. your probably just giving how many retire in the year 2020 right? Were talking thousands will be over 65 in the next 7 years from legacies.
