I also never got a single early release request approved despite the fact that I once pointed out on the phone that I hadn't flown in my last 20 days on reserve and also wasn't the next in line to be called. I felt like granting my request would have been a pretty safe gamble.
Sounds like you should have just stayed home anyway.Originally Posted by rcfd13
Yep. When I was a reserve I never flew and neither did any of my crash pad roommates. Now that we all have lines none of us can ever drop anything or get any vacation requests approved due to insufficient reserve staffing.I also never got a single early release request approved despite the fact that I once pointed out on the phone that I hadn't flown in my last 20 days on reserve and also wasn't the next in line to be called. That would have been great. Unfortunately I was doing a 3 leg commute to reserve back then. I wasn't a fan of being based in FAT.Originally Posted by soon2bfo

Reviving an old thread. Looking for some updated info on PSP base. As a new hire living in west PHX, would PSP be a good choice of base since it’s drivable (3.5 hours), and looks like it’s running fairly junior? Once I was told it had crappy lines, mostly all day trips which would suck for a commuter I would imagine. Any truth to that?
Thanks fellas. And ladies.

Just about all of the trips have show times around 6am, get off late on the last day, and don't pay very well. And almost all of the flying is in the 200.
But the place is great in February when it's snowing everywhere else.

It wouldnt be the worst option to wait out your time until being PHX based. Its probly what i would do, If you could hold PM reserve (9AM to 9PM) that would make it doable.Originally Posted by mcnitchell
