I remember getting a reserve SLC captain a few years ago. He was adamant that MSP was going to shut down within a year. All because of a recent announcement that we were getting a few 900's from Comair or maybe Pinnacle and they were only to be SLC based. Thought that was amusing. Though I wish no ill will toward those guys. Back then MSP was suppose to be a small base and IAH was going to grow to 300 crews.

Raising allegations about things that haven't actually happened and getting his gullible flock in a frenzy does not help the cause.
It doesn't "help the cause" to bury your head in the sand and pretend that the quality of life here hasn't been dropping rapidly for the last several years now. |
How many new hires are in the 175 class per month?

I interviewed 2 weeks ago and got the offer. They had a spot (or two) open up for the March 3 class and no announced 175 classes for new hires following that. Obviously, this info is 2 weeks old. <----- Some things need emphasis here in APC. |

2 classes of 14 per month. Then they do have plans to increase that number before summer.
So those of us on property waiting for transition are still being hosed because new hires are still geting 175s, while we're told its a company necessity that we remain on the CRJ due to staffing. Ridiculous. |

Well, they were pushing the CRJ pretty hard. (shrug) Potential new-hires be advised... If you do go into the 175, just know much more senior pilots want into that aircraft, and as they transition in your seniority will continually be pushed down over time. This has big implications for upgrade later on. That part they weren't lying to me about, I feel certain. |

There are a total of 14 FO spots per class. These are not all going to new hires. Mostly transitions. In my class last summer there were only 2 new hires, the rest were transitions from the CRJ.

Zero implications for upgrade later on. Anybody on any aircraft can upgrade to any other aircraft. Period. Apologies. I misunderstood what I was told, then. Perhaps you can explain why I was told there were no scheduled new-hire 175 classes after March 3? Re: new-hires in the 175...this much is true (I believe)...one could very well rise in seniority enough to finally come off reserve, only to get bumped back down into reserve status as more senior pilots transition into the plane. Like I said, the folks I interviewed with (very nice, btw) were selling the CRJ really hard when they offered me a class date. |
