They and anyone hired from this point on who is qualified can be considered street captains even if they aren’t officially called that in an interview.

I understand ASA pilots having hard feelings against SkyWest Inc. But, any of those pilots living in ATL would be crazy not to jump over now.

It worked fine for me at xjt and still does so to this day. Saying it won't do you any good at Skywest without anything to back that up doesn't make statement true. I've given plenty of examples of how it would work for you in plenty of post in the past. And if it bothers you that I talk about it, just ignore it. But I'll reserve my right to respond to any thread that I want, thank you very much.

Skywest v2.0
Doesn’t sound like a real safe practice at a regional airline. I’m sure some junior guys probably aren’t taking the upgrade because they aren’t comfortable as a captain yet with 1000 121 hours and 2500 total time.
The media would have a field day if they get to report about an accident on a recently hired pilot in his second year flying a jet that was forced to upgrade to captain against their will. That kind of news shuts a place down.
Also, what would be the ultimatum from the company? Upgrade or they will fire you? Regional pilots are scarce enough as it is without giving away the ones you have. If they fire them now they are looking for a CA and FO.
Lastly, an ultimatum such as that usually doesn’t sit well with employees. Maybe people would likely just quit (since it’s just a regional anyway) and it would deter others from coming here in the first place who don’t want the junior bases.
None of these things are helpful when you are already fighting other airlines to get any and all available pilots.

Those are good points. But I'm not sure about not being safe for pilots with 1,000 hours 121 time and 2,500 total. I do agree that they would probably hire street captains before displacing pilots, like it sounds they may be doing already.

No. Actually, not just NO, but **** NO. Inc can take their soft landings, pull down their magic underwear, and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Anyone with the required time and a desire to go to ATL will be an instant CA.
Once the word gets out I am sure there will be plenty of XJT/ASA folks who will consider it. Having soft landing 1.0 will give them up to instant 10 year CA pay. Not too bad even if there are some hard feelings.

I know upgrades can be forced, I just personally don’t like the practice.

Hey my man! I sympathize with your situation and I would harbor negative sentiment towards Inc as well, were I in your place. Hell, I work here and I don't like a lot of things about it! The kool aid, crap pay, lack of union, breaking of work rules by management at a dime whenever it suits them is sickening. But it isn't all bad, compared to being unemployed and wondering how you'll be able to feed your family. Consider for a moment that not every XJT pilot will be able to be hired by a legacy or LCC. There is only so much of your group that the big players can employ at once. SkyWest at least will take you with your 10 year seniority and you'll be a captain at ATL if that is where you wish to be based. I hate what St. George is doing to you guys (and us at SkyWest too, they are screwing their own pilots as well for sure!), and I do think that this was engineered from a while back to shut down XJT and bring your pilots onto this non-union seniority list. But if you find yourself in a situation where you don't have where to go and need a quick upgrade, just do it for your family man. PM me if you want, I'm willing to listen.

I'm sure a lot of y'all feel that way, and that's understandable. But, if you want ATL seems better to be on 10 yr CA pay than first year FO pay at 9E. Not to mention vacation accrual and bonuses for the 10years.
