Rocky came into our newhire class and point blank said, "tell your friends not to do the canned interview prep. We know pretty quick if they have a canned answer, and that will hurt them."

It's up to you, but they want the real you. Just keep in mind that figuring out how to tell your story is different from having the answers before hand.

Everything this guy has said in this thread is spot on. Use Rebekah and don't think twice about it, or using advice from another generic prep company.

This.... and then this some more.

I used Emerald Coast, and I found them very useful in helping me put my stories in a logical order without coming across as blabbing or getting sidetracked, but they were my stories nonetheless.

By the time you reach this level of the game (major airline interview), you shouldn't need canned answers and should have plenty of stories to tell. If you use the interview prep for canned answers, at Southwest, you will almost certainly not get hired. If you use the prep to help you polish up your delivery of your own stories and experiences, you will do just fine.

OK wasn't going to say anything, but after reading like 3 posts saying to use her, I want the people reading this thinking about spending 800 dollars to know what happened to me recently.

Yes she use to work for SWA HR, but you will never meet her or even speak to her over the phone. The only communication I got with her directly (I guess it was her) was a few lines in an email. So don't think you are being prepped directly by her. The people working for her, they are nice, but I don't know that it was really worth the money. I had one very important question that I had to figure out on my own, though I asked both of the girls working for her directly. One said she had to get back to me, the other I could tell had no idea (neither were pilots). She never got back to me. I probably failed my interview because of this specific problem I got 0 help with from them.

So, the service isn't bad, but it wasn't some insider information prep like it appears on the surface.
I would have been better off without it I think.

whats the selection rate now? My buddy went to an interview a couple of years ago and the selection rate was really low (if I remember correctly), something like 1/3

There is no quota, that I know of. They'll tell you on any given day they can hire all of you or none of you. Most guys that interviewed with me (last fall) got hired, between AM and PM. Don't know the actual numbers but well north of 50%. Friend of mine didn't get hired, and said 1 out 6 in his group was offered a job. That was early this year.

Rebekah did my logbook review prep, LOI and debrief. The other 2 did my HR panel prep. Guess her level of involvement varies.

Curious what your question was they couldn't answer...

I suspect any of the well known interview prep companies are going to help and I'd be surprised if any one particular brand is that much better than another.

Sorry, but I can't help not commenting on this statement. What exactly was the specific problem? And it's because of them that you didn't get hired? Really?

I understand the disappointment that comes with not getting hired, but in my opinion blaming them isn't the right path.

Your right, I shouldn't say it was them that caused me not to get hired. I am just frustrated that they were no help. It was about a problem I had in my past that I had to talk about extensively at the interview (no surprise). I just wish I would have had some input from them on this instead of going at it alone.

I really wish I would have saved my 800 dollars and tried to find someone who is a pilot and can understand how things really happen sometime on the line.
