I’m curious, can a SWA employee’s in-laws instead of biological parents be granted pass travel (buddy passes excluded)? Lastly, does SWA have any zed agreements on a legacy carrier?

 

Can’t help you with the in-laws question, but yes, we have ZED agreements for Y class travel on UA, AA, DL, and many more.

Almost certain it’s biological or adoptive parents for pass privileges. You have to provide your birth certificate or adoption paperwork.

1. discounted airfare (how much?) for "space available" seats ? aka buy a cheap ticket but you may need to wait for the next flight if this one is full ?

2. or discounted airfare and a confirmed seat ?

3. What about spouse and immediate blood family (child in college) on SWA metal ? free, discount ? etc

It’s a fixed fare, plus certain taxes, depending on the mileage and the agreement level between SWA and the reciprocating airline (ZL low, ZM medium, or ZH high). Google “ZED fare table” and you’ll get a general idea. Most legacies are either ZL (low) or ZM (medium).

As far as I know, we have no confirmed seat purchase options with other airlines. As a matter of fact, we don’t have any on our own metal, either. It’s either $0 fare nonrev space-available, or buy a ticket like everyone else.

Spouse, or any one other person you choose can travel for free as well, and shares the same ZED benefits. Biological parents as well. Children I’m less familiar with, but I believe it’s children up to 18 years old travel like a spouse. I believe children up to 25 years old if they are in college are eligible as well, but don’t quote me.

If a child is an unmarried dependent enrolled as a full-time student, travel privileges may be extended until age 24.

Spouse, parents, children up to 24 (after 19th bday have to be registered in school).
Parents need to be biological, adoptive, or step parent if natural parent is deceased.
All the above get unlimited free space A on SWA and ID90 passes via myidtravel with no first class or business class listing available.

Companions in lieu of spouses now get unlimited segments as of this year. Used to be up to a certain number. They do not get ID90.

Guest passes earned through the SWAG rewards program based on attendance, random drawings, atta boy type awards, and company goals being met. If you don’t call in sick or fatigued you could earn up to 14 passes a year or you could burn the points for confirmed travel or visa gift cards.

 

I tried to have my mom and my dad's wife listed as he doesn't travel. They said has to be a mother and father. I asked what about if I had two legal mothers?
They just stared then muttered this is 'merica.
Last part may be made up but they did just stare. It's still a Texas airline

 

Also you're only allowed two listed 'parents' regardless of how many you have.
