I have a neighbor who left to go to FedEx. (I am a DAL FO). He said the second he gave notice they removed him from the schedule. They paid him to the date he said he would be there in his resignation letter (through his sick bank if memory serves me). He gave about 3+ weeks notice.
He was surprised how they handled it to be honest. PM if you have any other questions or a summer week of vacation you need to offload.

I resigned to go to Delta (over 3 years ago). The CPO was very nice, and I continued to fly my line through the end of the month (I gave 4 weeks notice). I didn’t use any sick time, and it was paid out on my last paycheck.

Back in 2014, Had a buddy walk in to EWR CPO to give three weeks notice as he just finished a 3 day trip, told CPO he'd be going to Delta.....Decided to do it then because bids for the next month were coming up and didn't want PBS to issue him follow on schedule.
He quickly regretted decision as UAL CPO did not take it well and took his ID on the spot and removed him from all remaining flying, pay and JS/nonrev privileges. He needed to bum a buddy pass to get back home to Florida in fact.

I doubt the extremity of both stories, and I highly doubt UAL ALPA or SWAPA would’ve let this stand

Well if it didn't happen to the UAL EWR buddy.... then he sure as heck put a lot of effort into asking me for a last minute buddy pass! Also....why would the union give two cents about a pilot that is no longer part of their group? He never complained anyway, was just a lot surprised. Ironically, apparently UAL was doing some kind of uniform change and about two weeks after quitting, he received a whole bevy of uniform pieces at his house. He mostly left because in his opinion UAL was a "hot mess" in EWR at least at that time in 2014. He was worried about the future at the time.
