How long will the board of directors allow Gary to not act? Airbus is on back order through 2024. An acquisition is needed.

a M&A event will take years before it’s completed. Not like you can buy Spirit, paint the planes and run them from ABQ-BWI tomorrow. The Max will be resolved long before any benefits are seen from a M&A event.

Gary would look really smart buying a profitable airline for their planes, get our own planes back long before the acquisition is completed, just in time for the next downturn with a bunch of planes we don’t need and an airline we overpaid for.

Be a great time to buy out Sun Country for some established growth to keep the board happy.
-30-35 lightly used NG’s (800’s).
-SWA would pretty much control all of Terminal 2 at MSP (Get the Metropolitan Airport Commission to expand the terminal if needed and also continue to add more shops and restaurants).
-Good loads all year round (north south flying in the winter, East and west in the summer).
- Established presence in the charter side of business (military and collegiate sports).
- Small freight contract with Amazon.

Keeping in mind this model of aircraft is at great risk should anything were to happen after being redeployed after recertified.

Now imagine a somber Gary Kelly in front of regulators stating they have no choice but to buy NK and diversify their fleet. Looks better for everyone involved and guaranteed there wouldn't be a peep from anyone to fight the merger.
The MAX debacle serves as the perfect scapegoat for eliminating a competing carrier through a merger.
