People bypass for any number of reasons... Schedule, WB pay being close enough, basing...... The Northeast is basically the most populated area in the country. I'd bet it's not the location that's necessarliy the problem.. Could be the trips, schedule, a/c based there etc.
Last I remember EWR is not an AA base, and who knows how many 737's fly out of JFK? Exactly how much coverage are you talking about when you mention "covering those bases?"
What is the time to hold MCO Captain?
I was based in LGA for 5 years. The crash pads aren’t near anything interesting unless you take a bus. There’s only so much Airways Pizza one can take before you start contemplating life decisions. Originally Posted by kingairfun

I’d take OAK over NYC because it’d save me 4 hrs round trip commuting and if you want to work at SWA you likely won’t sit around. So crashpad isn’t needed, just the occasional hotel.
When I was based in LGA (it’s been over 4 years so I’m sure much has changed), there were many AA pilots sitting in the crashpad *****ing about having to cover all 3 airports. Same with the DL guys in the house.
If you want to give someone a realistic upgrade time offer a range or toss out the base awarded so people can make a educated decision. It’s like people saying AA has a 1 yr upgrade (which was true on the 190). It was 1 yr for a reason. Same as the MD-88 at DAL. People do quit jobs for quicker career progression. At least give them the whole picture is all I’m saying.
Our upgrade will prob drop to the 6-8 yr range once we get to the 2 yr hiring gap. Currently is 8-10 depending upon on where the vacancies are (people in BWI aren’t bidding on west coast and vice versa). West coast is most Jr in both seats. The Max has everything messed up so things are off until it gets back online.
