Fed up with USAA.... Suggestions please
(Sorry... longer than I anticipated)
Gang...
I've been with them for 37 years and only twice have I genuinely thought of leaving USAA. Today kinda made my mind up. After 3 phone calls this week and the rather long wait times (20 minute wait Rrrr) on hold each time including today for either talking to a rep or having them call me back using that function, I received more frustration than answers from them
Simply closed an acct and wanted remaining funds trxfrd to checking account.... How can that take literally 3-4 weeks?? Its MY money. The kicker was this: the first 2 reps told me 3-5 biz days!! The "Conflict Resolution" desk guy says 10-14 days to process and 7-10 biz days to fund.
Unacceptable.... especially when the first 2 reps told me 3-5 days, which I had made some plans on!
Looking for suggestions for other banks/insitutions you all use and how you like them..... Citibank, BofA, credit unions etc...
Thanks guys.

You can use any ATM worldwide and if they charge you an ATM fee, Etrade refunds this amount instantly. I've enen done this in Argentina (where the ATM fees are like $9) and they were instantly refunded. They have a basic Savings account that often beats the rates of a 1yr CD at Navy Federal.

I’ve not used them personally, but I have two friends that have. The 4% return on large balances is compelling, but otherwise they are quite backwards (mirroring much my SWA experience). The app is limited, and where many larger banks have apps, or at the very least, email contacts to get stuff done, SWACU still lives in the world of faxing.

20+ years with them and now I’m done with them as well. They are great right up till you need to use...you know the insurance you have been paying for for the last 20 years. It was terrible, sad to see what a once great company has become. I switched my auto and need to come up with alternatives for home and a personal policy. Shame

One thing I actually have liked about USAA is if I have a disputed charge on my checking account, they are pretty good at fighting for me and I would like to find an institution that would still do that...
Also have any of you taken advantage of those mailers from SWA about discount rates with different insurance companies? I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

All I have left with them is checking. No more auto insurance, was cheaper with better coverage with Progressive. Gave them the chance to get my mortgage, homeowners, and auto loans, again cheaper to go elsewhere. I'll keep my checking for now.
