Is there any way to predict how long a new FO would have to wait for PHX?
Is LAX likely available in lieu of PHX out of class? LAS?
I have heard PHX is senior, but I think some of those statements are for Captains, I am trying to figure it out for a new FO.
Thanks for any help with this.
LAX and OAK would be my bet out of training. Especially first few classes. Most junior. We don’t really have any bases that are years to get to from what I’ve seen. As stated above it’s just a wag. But, my bet would be several months after training. (One thing I like about here is they do vacancy every month as opposed to the long drawn out process of some other places). Really helps junior mostly.) There’s a bunch of FOs displaced. And I know of some that have moved. And are trying to get somewhere. There will be a lot of shuffling during the first few classes which I would guess means LAX or OAK for several months.

Lol Mid-late 2019 hire... still can't hold a base that's not LAX or OAK...

If history is any indicator, MCO CA will be perpetually senior.

I've been an MCO CA since it opened 20+ years ago, and it's historically been a popular last domicile for those pre positioning for retirement, as well as a popular snowbird base for the carpetbaggers from the great white north.

I am pretty senior, and still get a few folks coming in above me on almost every vacancy bid.

Well the good news is that the vacancy came out and it's all zeros for FOs, no displacing junior around the system anymore, as February should have many vacancies with new hires. A few bids should put many people where they want to be.

This is sarcasm, right? You were hired right before COVID shut all hiring down everywhere. What kind of movement did you expect with no one coming in behind you?

if we hire 1000+ in 2022 most new hires folks should able to hold any base they want within 6 months.

Just to add on, I was hired late ‘17 when we were binge hiring like they want to start doing again. 3 classmates lived in/near ATL and everyone told them it’d be years to get there. I think the wait ended up being 10 months for them, and everyone else in my class was at their base of choice within 4.

Default Thank you for the info

Thank you to everyone for the information. The replies seem to confirm that even though PHX is currently a more senior FO base, the hiring may allow me to get it within a year ..... or not .
Obviously a lot of variables, but I'm familiar with the LAX commute - so that would be ok for a little while.
Thanks again, much appreciated.

Oh yeah, I knew when I took the job in 2019 that the world would shut down 7 months later...

Im just saying, YMMV with what you can get. I was displaced 7 months ago after holding BWI for almost 2 years. (And I didn't want BWI) SO yeah, for bottom 200 or so its been a ride.

I Agree if we hire people should have no issues getting what they want within a short timeframe. IF they hire and things don't slow down.
