SWA announces capacity cuts of at least 20% through June of this year, and there's not a peep on here. It really is amazing...

There's a lot of redundancy in our planes, and we obviously accept that some things break. I've had three emergency descents due to cabin pressure (various root causes in press system) and I'm OK with that.
I am NOT OK with structural failures in an airplane, most especially in the pressure vessel... in case you're not an an engineer, once it starts ripping under pressure it's hard to predict where it will end (especially in an older plane with a lot cycles and fatigue)... there are a variety of historical case studies and I can think of only one with a relatively happy ending (Aloha). The ONLY acceptable standard is that the pressure vessel and other key structural items doesn't fail in flight (they can fatigue and crack as long as the system catches before it fails).

Well to be honest, from my observation, there's a very small amount of us that partake in the APC banter. The vast majority speak their minds loud and clear on our internal Facebook pages; and then there's the regulars on SWAPA forums or PPrune. APC just isn't a common convening site for many SWA pilots.

Why would I want to discuss company business with those outside the company? So y’all can speculate exactly in the same manner you speculated?

I don't really care. You guys do you. It does allow others at different airlines but in the same sector the ability to gauge what is going on in the rest of the industry. That's all.

Just my $.02 from an FNG with the company, but I really haven't ran into many doomsday prophets thinking the world is ending, we're all getting furloughed, and our pets heads are falling off. Maybe it's the SWA propaganda, maybe it's the "culture" that's shoved in our faces 24/7, or maybe it's the company's track record, but I would say as a group, most of us are pretty calm. I mean, I'm at like 97% seniority company-wide and I haven't worried for 1 second about losing my job. Maybe I'm naive, but I feel like this company is in a better position than any of the other majors and if anyone is going to pull itself out of this, it's us.
