We値l find out next week with a company town hall I guess. The company has applied for the grant and secured a line of credit. We値l have to get exemptions for the CARES act as we池e down to 56 flights a day. Most of them are out and backs. Those 56 daily flights can be bid on in open time. Otherwise you are time available, on reserve or taking a reduced hour line to stay home.

That is what every airline should be doing right now. Cut 90% of the schedule (since passenger numbers are down 95%). Put the remaining schedule into open time. Put every pilot on reserve. Schedule out and backs if possible (to avoid laying over in a hotel for exposure and cost reasons). Offer as many reduced hour lines as practical to those who want to stay at home. No premium pay needed. No one exceeds min guarantee due to scheduling issues. Save as much cash as possible to prevent as many furloughs as possible come October 1.

And it looks like Spirit asked for an amendment to the bill rather than exemptions for limiting service. We値l see how that goes.

Status quo. If you want to work, then have at it. If you want to reduce your exposure then stay at home. I'm single income with kids to feed. I'll be working as much as I can as long as I can.
If you wanted to spread the open time around you could put a MOU to a vote where nobody could exceed the cap (around 102 tfp). My guess is the MOU wouldn't pass. People are used to their 120 tfp and would complain their hard earned seniority is being given away.

I much prefer being able to pick up scraps as necessary to finish building my furlough fund if it comes to that. The way our open time system works is seniority order by base. So the Sr. guys are going to make $$$$ picking up recovery flights while the Jr guys would get paid guarantee as furlough fodder. No thanks.

I too am single income with mouths to feed and am in max earning mode. I immediately saw the writing on the wall last month and put the pedal to the metal, catching a few lucky breaks in there to finish off a fantastic month. I do feel I am putting myself at a bit of extra risk, but the economic alternative is hoping for the best, which isn't a great strategy.
That extra money is going in the available cash coffers and will help us burn down our available cash over the next few months. I am relatively senior in my base/seat, but I am not expecting much in the way of extra flying this month. There will be sick calls to be sure, but what little extra flying there is will be fought over. I think it will be a very good month for reserves.
