Anyway, let’s hope all this is enough to stave off furloughs.

You poor thing.

I'm at 98% relative seniority on the entire list. Want to trade?

If you’re at 98% then you will have moved up significantly more than someone at my seniority. Again, not ungrateful but would have really liked to have seen 1000 VSPers.

Oh, and I took a shorter term ExTO partly to save your ass

I was surprised they got as many VSP as they did. 1000 off the top would have been nice For sure, but very grateful for all those that are leaving. I’m no math genius, but moving up percentages in a shrinking group is tough. Hopefully we’ll all rocket up in the next few years when hiring needs to resume.

That's not true. Based on known VSPs (we'll see the final in a couple days), I move up less than 0.1%. I am also around 98%.

Edit: Thanks for taking ExTO though! Greatly appreciate it.

I’m in my fifth year. Domicile wise, I move up about 25 numbers through the ExTO guys but lose nearly 60 below. We will see what the next vacancy brings.

I think I know at least one of the bottom handful junior FOs... One of them retired mil with no kids if I recall correctly, the other one was a mil reservist last time we talked, not sure status of kids. In either case, they'll be fairly comfortable and have 5 years to decide if they want a 3rd income or not. Good place to be, great payoff for a few decades of career focus.

Edit: Looking further, there are several fairly junior FOs I know in that same situation, either retired mil or still working reservist. Nice reposition.

My apologies. My thinking was ass backwards. Relative seniority wise, those on the bottom of the list benefit more from hiring than those more senior while taking early outs off the top of the list benefits the very junior less in relative seniority (but obviously greatly on furlough mitigation).

I think for the majority of the list, it will be pretty much a wash. We will see how it shakes out, but the only sweet spot that I can think of will be around the 20 to 30 percent system seniority range. Other than that, you will probably see just as many take leave above as below.

Just glad that it would appear that we have successfully headed off any furloughs for at least the medium term.

Do all of the ExTO’s return before any hiring starts up again?
