Default ExTO and VSP numbers

Great question. Unfortunately I don't think anyone here knows the master plan in that regard. My assumption would be no if they truly honor the longevity of requests.

I’d assume so

If I recall correctly that was addressed in the FAQ and the answer was “yes but”. People on ExTO could potentially switch to unpaid leave and military people on ExTO could stay out

It appeals to anyone who has made their retirement goal, has a military pension, an SO with a good income, and/or a successful side business. Younger than 55s have the issue of health care as you can only make it last ten years (assuming enough sick time).

It's also attractive to older, but junior FOs who are could believe they are in danger of furlough (I don't think we will furlough but others have a varying assessments). It's an almost safe bet to take $100k/yr over five years and go look for other work than take a chance on a furlough.
ExTO will not save you from furlough. Reverse seniority if it happens. Your number gets called and you get furloughed regardless if you are on ExTO. The pay will stop.

Exactly, we are discussing VSP, which does not have that issue. That is likely why a few very junior FOs took VSP. Or they have a FedEx class date.

No way. They made it a point to emphasize the possibilities of callbacks due to operational requirements.

They absolutely call back the ExTOs before hiring.

Default Downgrade to Upgrade

I can honestly say this, if it came to downgrading to improve my quality of life over what I'd receive as a very junior Captain, I'd do it in a heart beat! I don't think I would be "very junior" at going on 19 years, but I'm just saying. My priorities and values just are not the same as when I upgraded. I jumped at the 1st opportunity, but then flew with quite a few who turned it down in order to have a better family life. Over time, I began to "get it."

As far as what am I going to do besides make my wife go insane, I'm looking at my mini me's right now and were discussing blanket fort plans.

All I know is in my base the 6 mo and the 5 yr had close to equal numbers. Pretty much all the 5 yr guys were jr to me. I moved down 7% for Sept.
