That’s a gorgeous Mooney!! Is she yours?
We joined a flying club during the pandemic and did a lot of fun GA family trips, but definitely could’ve used something like a Mooney that could really cover some ground. Maybe someday!

I had a 3-hour, 186 mile drive until I moved to Chicagoland. I drove it most of the time even though flying was occasionally a good option.
Flying to ORD and then getting to MDW would, for me, never ever be ahead of driving.

Flying is not faster 90% of the time for what you describe. And it’s way less reliable and more stressful. Getting in your own (positive space) car with your own music, phone calls, etc. is the way to do it. No waiting for delays or whatever.

The big factor is going in and out of ORD.... especially from a close airport, most likely on regional metal... oof. Yeah 3 hours for sure I would drive.

I knew a pilot that did a 4 hour drive from NY to BWI. He said the drive was just as long as driving to BUF then commuting to BWI. He didn’t have to worry about delayed flights or waiting for his commute flight home. He would get a hotel room just like he would if he flew in and would leave the car at the hotel.
