Thinking about just doing the 2 1/2hr drive to MDW from IND instead of the short flight. Just debating the pros/cons. It痴 great I have options here, but I知 feeling spoiled coming from the quality of life I have now with only a 40 min drive to IND. However the higher pay at SWA seems like it would make up for the 2 1/2 hr drive and gas.

Lol. So you would drive to the airport (IND) over an hour prior... try to get the jumpseat... sit around for 40 minutes, finally board the flight... then fly the 45 minutes to MDW, to sit around for 3 hours prior to your show? Just to avoid a 2.5 hour drive? So you get back from a trip, the next flight to IND isn't for 4 hours, so you sit around the crew lounge... but then the flight gets delayed 2 hours, then delayed again, so now you've spent 6 hours sitting around the airport... all because you were too cheap to drive?

You would do that once, realize sitting around the crew lounge is a waste of your life... then drive the next 5 million times lol.

No one can answer this but yourself. It all depends on your tolerance for long drives. Mine is very high and I drive more than that to my domicile.

Bottom line, if there痴 an airplane involved in your commute then it痴 automatically more stressful, but as I mentioned some people just really hate to drive.

There痴 also some very comfortable and reliable cars out there now that are super fuel efficient as well so think about that. The Hyundai Sonata hybrid, Toyota Camry hybrid, etc.

This is exactly correct. 2 1/2 hours is an always drive situation.

The base coordinator can set you up with parking when the time comes. I believe right now you can choose between the employee lot and the economy garage. Neither are terribly expensive.

Since you are junior and thus going to be on reserve - it's possible to get called out on reserve with less than 3 hours notice before push. In those cases, you can parking in the daily garage and expense it.

You gonna clean up living that close in a commuter base.

And take close in parking always...

What other bases are considered commuter bases? I would assume the Texas bases and MCO have more locals
