I’m Coming from Corporate and Charter flying where uniforms were paid for and provided by the company. Looking for guidance on how uniforms work here at SWA. Headed to training in a couple weeks so I’m sure they’ll clarify some of this, however I’m a fan of the A Cut Above shirts (which my current operator uses, however they’re grey shirts so I can’t recycle them) but their backlog is atrocious and want to make sure I have uniform articles ready by the time I complete training. TIA

Not sure how it all works though to be honest.

I recommend getting the bare minimum and sourcing quality stuff elsewhere….M&H stuff is garbage. Get epaulets, ties, couple pairs of pants and no shirts if they let you. I wouldn’t have bought anything but epaulets and tie, but they “forced” me even though I asked where in the FOM or CBA it said I was required to buy their garbage.
Kohl’s Haggar pants, ACA shirts, Karbon jacket (order that directly from Karbon…info by the jackets in break room). You can wear whatever belt, shoes, socks you want long as they’re black (flew with a CA who has black tennis shoes and looked homeless….so YMMV)

Any black pants will work. Guys use that haggar 19. It breathes well or black golf pants. The company one is horrible. I use cut above as well. Order those or use one from previous company. If you need to buy a shirt from the store but dont get everything they reccomend. They'll try to say its required but it's not.

Yes you’re right, they’ll clarify uniforms at training, I think like literally day 1. But white shirts with pockets, no wings so no eyelets, black pants. The company will tell you that you have to use the M&H uniforms that they stock in the company store, but nobody does. I’d say A Cut Above is among the most common for shirts. Jackets also take forever to order, so order one on day 1 if you’re going to be hitting the line in winter. There’s a stigma with leather ones, but there’s one with the Karbons too, and also one with the blazers…so just pick one and don’t sweat it (although you’ll almost never see blazers or hats). If you’re on FB there’s a SWA Junior Pilots group you can join with lots of info on these kinds of questions. Welcome!

Hello all, received CJO this week and look forward to starting in NOV or DEC. after training do you receive a week off or days for moving? I plan on move to PHX base which will be half way across the country for me. Just trying to figure out how to move and get a plan/moving company in place before I start training. TIA

The Haggar pants (I like the Cool 18 Pro) go on sale frequently on their web site. 3 for $95 I believe. They match fine with the uniform, are more comfortable than the M&H, and most important, they're machine washable. Not dealing with a dry cleaner for work is really nice and saves a ton of money, not even counting the $40/pair I save with Haggar.
