People burn sick time to avoid fatigue? I call in fatigued when I'm fatigued, and call in sick when I'm sick. I've heard unsubstantiated rumors that sometimes there may exist one or more than one person who may or may not call in sick if they just really need a day off, but I can't confirm anything like that of course. Except for that one guy who sniped a below-rig trip out of base 30 seconds before a midnight OT close only a handful of hours before he'd have to commute to make the flight, then sicked out a couple of hrs later. That was pretty obvious he never intended to fly it, but that's the only one.

I got bait and switched on an open time pairing that I was getting ready to leave the house for. Unscheduled overnight into a long day, extra hotel, and terrible commute home. I decided it was best for my mental health that I stay on the bench since it would have required my whole family to juggle their plans.

Not from here originally. Was acquired. All of the nonsense goes on because the overwhelming percentage are "Pay to Play'. Someone who pays money to get a job has a different mindset than someone who thinks they are the top of the group and can get hired anywhere. This also leads to the weakness of people who say, "I'm just happy to have a job". Sort of a losing mindset.
That hasn't been a thing for a long time.
You seem intent on dividing the pilot group instead of unity.
