Default Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Hey folks, I really dig the help and advice I tend to see given on here, and am hoping to avail myself of it further . I’m pretty new at a ULCC, the one no longer merging but still possibly getting acquired by a certain other airline, doing a short commute to LAS for reserve.. Just got an invite to a virtual interview for you guys, but wondering whether to jump on that or not: have yet to see what’ll happen to our company, I.e., pay scales, possible reconfiguring, revolutionizing, etc., so smoke is probably far from settling enough to allow for a longer-term picture of life as I’d know it. Plus I’ve read that commuting to reserve at SW is currently somewhat of a longish-term commitment, and one not exactly conducive to sanity. At the same time, I don’t know if turning it down would seal my fate on any future chances of being considered and invited again, all else being equal (including current hiring market frenzy).
Hopefully my dilemma is somewhat relatable to someone out there, or if not, alternatively feel free to heap liberal doses of perspective or insight onto the situation….

Honestly, you don’t have any decision to make until someone offers you a class date. You are stressing over something that may not even be an issue. If you think you might be interested, then move through the process. By the time you do a virtual interview, then an in person, then they offer a class date….it could be several months from now and the picture of what will happen to the yellow bus might be much more clear. Then you’ll be able to make a better educated decision.

Best of luck to you!

Do you live in a SWA domicile?

Commuting to reserve is only lengthy if hiring stops.

Commuting can be very short depending on where you live.

Where were you before your current ULCC? I'm curious on what kind of total time and background is getting SWA's attention these days.

at OO….I think they’re probably scraping the bottom of barrel if considering me: no TPIC, 5100+ TT, bachelor’s, military but not as a pilot…..recently had some face time w recruiter at a conference

Well we have a LAX base, that's like 1-1.5 hour drive. Pretty much in base.
