So you're admonishing FOs for not leaving? You are literally doing the same job and complain more than any person on the planet. I find that funny.
People stay or leave for their own reasons. It's a dinner table decision, not a cockpit one.
Everybody complains about this place, including me. It's just easy to vent to someone who experiences the same things. If I told my wife about how my reroute that pays me $1500 more sucks, she would be like yeah, suck it up.
We work 4 days a week and are in the top 10 percent of earners in the US. We get a month and a half off for vacation.
I think it's all relative.

You need to reread my previous post. I’m talking about junior FOs that are *****ing about a range of gripes but aren’t doing diddly about leaving to a carrier that will solve a lot of those gripes.
The main reasons given for their lack of motivation to actually try to leave for greener pastures is “I don’t want to start over again”, “I can’t imagine going through the application process again”, “I just got off of reserve at SWA”.
Again, it’s not my decision to make and it absolutely boils down to a personal/family decision but it’s just funny because getting on at carriers like UAL, DLA, FDX that are actively hiring will solve so many of these gripes.
I guess it’s just maddening at times to sit there and listen to very junior people b!tch about SWA but then do nothing to get on with a carrier that provides them with vastly better career opportunities for their age and juniority.

I can totally relate because of the lost decade. In 2015 it was still pretty competitive to get hired here or anywhere else. Now that I’m under 500 from upgrade I can see a light again. That light for me may be a junior hire’s light shining at FedEx.

It’s totally relative and I agree that we are fortunate (but considering our experience level and especially our responsibilities we’re still underpaid).

But in any case, grass will always appears greener elsewhere, but it's important to remember it's because it's fertilized with a different brand of bullshlt.

Atlas is hiring, and we are being bought by Apollo. That will help us improve, if they follow the Sun Country model, which included a better contract.
There is no worries about commuting, as Atlas will buy you plane tickets and hotels at the start and end of your trip, if you don't live in "base".
On the 747 (and 777, I think), there is basically no reserve. There IS reserve on the 767/737, but it's not the same as other airline's reserve.
If anyone has questions, feel free to PM me...

Switching companies will not change many of the gripes. SWA’s problems are the same as anywhere else with minor variances (crew meals, paid parking, mandatory bus driver hat, woke propaganda, kulture, etc). We have trips touching either side of WOCL, but others are scheduled right through it. As a junior rsv guy I’m working my butt off but it’s still less duty periods than my last 121 and better paying.
Keep in mind it’s not as easy as turning on a light switch to get a call from the legacies or cargo carriers. Some of us got to SWA by a different road that regional LCA or fighter pilot. Even with the invite, a seniority reset to another legacy puts you further behind the seniority wave. Delta has hired what, 5k in seven years, most in their twenties and thirties, so for anyone over 30 their odds of wide body captain before 60 are slim
