Default Jumpseat Question

In the process of getting a Chinese visa. Planning to jumpseat on southwest, loads look good and should have a seat in the back. Is a passport required to ride in the back?

Passport is required at check-in, which I am 99.9999% sure is "always" checking-in-for-the-jumpseat with the additional "in the back" decision up to the SWA crew/gate agent.

Passport required for jumpseat. Again, 99.99% sure you will need it for your scenario as outlined.

Not on SWA, even for seat in the back, always passport, passport card not accepted either. UA, company ID and tell them your birthday. You would think the same rules would apply.....

If one thing is consistent about southwest it’s having to show your passport for the jump seat.

Delta requires it too. Not sure why you need a passport to ride the JS. Dumb requirement.

When I sent mine off, I "forgot" to call and tell them so they wouldn't take me out of CASS. I did expedited and it took about a week.

Delta doesn’t require a passport. Any ID with date of birth works

The above information is incorrect. You can jumpseat on Southwest, and travel in the cabin without a passport. You just need your employee id, pilot's certificate, and FAA Medical. There is a procedure in our OPS Binder that deals with this situation. Now, if the CSA knows this procedure, that is a different question. I would arrive early at the gate to give yourself plenty of time in case there are holdups. Good Luck!
