Had a flight this summer where eng 1 Gen was deferred and APU died at FL410. Turns out contract mx never topped off the APU oil when they deferred the eng gen and it ran bone dry. Would’ve found a better place to divert but we were middle of nowhere AZ so going back to PHX was closest. 🫣. Sked wanted us to take it back out after they topped off the APU oil…I said that plane is going to the hangar to get fixed or they can find someone else.

He was supposed to call maintenance who would’ve had him return. He waited and called them after landing. I believe it may have had a deferred generator which was a common thing in my old shop.

I and my team were pax on an AMC flight that wasn't too broke to depart the ME, but was somehow too broke to fly after landing in southern Spain. Called my boss, he said COMAIR was expensive, just get hotels and wait it out. I think he was expecting a day or two, but we ended up with about ten days of all-expenses paid liberty in Cadiz.

C5 probably.

Willing to bet its decent odds I'm eating lunch with the FE's sister. Rat could fix anything enough to leave CENTCOM but hard broke once in Europe.

C-141.

Let's just say it wasn't the airplane's fault that it got broke.

Back in the day... The wing commander at Mountain Home AFB had to publish a new read before flying with a rule stating "Nellis AFB will not be briefed as your primary divert option" after pilots were diverting there just because it was listed on the officially suitable divert airport list. It doesn't take too many egregious clown acts before someone shuts down the circus.

LOL. Pilots are pilots at the core, no matter what they are flying. Sometimes one’s circus is bigger than another’s. I love hearing these stories.
