Dont forget the LRD issue. It needs resolved before certification, and then they'll have to circle back and implement the fix on the -8

or vice versa.

It’s really just getting sadly comical now. They’ve been working on fixing this TAI issue for 2+ years now. Back in the day they could almost go from clean sheet design to revenue service in about the same time. Heck, the Empire State Building was built in 4 years.

We are stuck in the mud with no appreciable growth for the next 3 or 4 years. If that thing actually shows up sometime in 2026 for revenue service it really won’t make a dent in overall fleet size until late 2027. It will just be replacing beat up 700s on a one-for-for basis initially.

From a long time buddy engineer at Boeing, the fix to the TAI has to be backward implemented on all the previously delivered max's so that gets time consuming and expensive unless you can find a quick, elegant, and inexpensive fix.

Honestly I think that one can be resolved in software. If LRD activates, bleed air PRSOV closes automatically. That should be simple, but I'm sure it isn't.

Or if VIB reaches a certain threshold. They can shut the valve before LRD is activated.

Rakesh stepped down as COB. Now he's chair of the fleet oversight committee.

New guy came from Chilis and Auto Zone
