However - I wouldn't put it past SWA to cut down their order book.

Waterson did say last year that we are not going to be using the MAX 7 for growth like we were previously, more so needing it to replace aging 700s on smaller markets.

But they will have more seats than a 700. That’s growth Kelly would have loved.

Aw yes. The bean counter that did his best to kill this place. I hope he is proud.

Maybe, but again we actually reduced seating capacity on our 700s with the extra leg room offerings so it'll interesting to see what the MAX 7 looks like with seating numbers.

Oh it exists. I saw one in Renton, painted up in our colors and ready to fly, six years ago. Insanity.

CASM on the 700s has to be going through the roof with the way they are performing plus NG fuel burn. Max 7 CASM will be way way lower and it will bring that entire denominator down for the whole system once the 700s are replaced. I do agree that 150 seats is a lot, but it seems like yield is king these days and load factor is a second thought. Just my observation from the cheap seats and flying a lot of half full airplanes (some totally full ones too on mostly longer routes).
It’s almost getting to the point where nonrevving is semi civil again since not all fares can jump the standby line and the computers have finally figured out how to squeeze more revenue out of 120 passengers than they used to from 143.

Do you think the intro of the MAX 7, if it ever shows its face will speed things up a bit? Quicker upgrade times, less stagnant seniority?

Hiring does that. It’s already happening. MAX7 will replace 700s. Don’t see replacements driving more hiring numbers. Rumors are current hiring extends through next year also. We’ll see. Either way, what you’re asking for is currently happening without the MAX 7.
