I find ATL to be the opposite of ORD. It generally runs quite smooth. I would say of the country's big airports, it and LAX probably run the most efficient operations. ORD and IAH are the worst that we currently go to. EWR was terrible too but we don't go there any more.

I think the flying in and out of ATL is fine. The controllers definitely know their business. I used to think ramp was the worst in the system, but they have really stepped up their game in the last couple years. Now I feel they're one of the better stations.
Just don't leave the jetway. The airport itself is a hot mess.
