No, the classics had GPWS altitude calls. The 200 didn't. The old SWA procedure was the FO did the altitude calls, even when they were the pilot flying. Captains were busy doing captain stuff and couldn't be bothered.

When the weather was below 4000 RVR the captain would fly the approach with the FO calling out the Altitudes and DH. The 200s had the altimeters set to be off by 100 feet. On a CAT 1 app, the DH was 100 AGL. ( due to the FO calling DH off his alt.) How the FAA Ever allowed that is beyond me.

Some would say pizza and bribes

Sometime around 2035 when we get a new aircraft lol. This place is just barely coming to terms with paperless, in-seat power and assigned seats. Auto land would blow their minds.

Agree with this assessment. They were "looking at it", which means they can't justify the cost. They are all in on the HGS, but are too cheap to put one on the FO side or invest in actual training for it.

Which is funny cause we did fully CAT3, ILS Autolands on the 737-200's that Delta had at least. No FMS. No GPS. Basically no guidance except VOR intercepts and heading steers from ATC untlil in range of the ILS receiver.
I remember landing once at BOS during fog in early winter of 2001 and needing a follow-me to get to the gate safely.

I understand that the aircraft are all capable of it already, we just don't have it in our ops spec because the company wanted to save money and use the HGS. I have flown with AT guys, and I am fairly certain they used auto-land.

Autoland is active on all SWA airplanes. Had a CKA tell me during upgrade if it was down to a choice between a 0/0 landing and 'final destination', he'd autoland without a moment's hesitation.
