PHX Crashpad

Extend-A-Suites on the south side of the airport has reasonable rates for a plain but clean room. I would stay again—lots of commuters there (mostly flight attendants).
Peak times are MLB spring training—hotels go up quite a bit.
Also, check with the hotels WN uses for overnights and ask for a crew rate. The Crown used to be under $100 but I think they stopped the rates.

The majority of SWA pilots seem to get a hotel room versus a Crashpad. It makes sense. Our company loves using Reserves and if you put Fly as your preference, you’re going to get used most of the time. It’s hard to see a Fly-preference reserve having to get hotel more than 3-5 nights a month…which is about the cost of a snore-fest Crashpad.

I have never heard of a PHX crashpad. The hotel situation there is pretty good and it isn't a big commuter base. There are bound to be one or two, but I would highly suggest just doing the hotel thing unless you plan on spending a lot of time there when you are off work.
what’s the most common hotels people end up using with the best crew rate? Someone mentioned the Crown, what are some others?

My info is dated. The crown sucks to be honest. I wouldn't stay there unless I had no choice. It's crap rooms in a terrible area. I know the Drury was always a fan favorite. Food and drinks in the evening and breakfast in the morning, nice rooms, solid shuttle. When I was in PHX, the Best Western was a thing, but I am guessing it didn't survive Covid.

PHX airport. Tempe would be a haul.
Not a SWA guy I am guessing. Think easy...hotels that specialize in crews. Late checkouts, free shuttles, free food. If you work somewhere that likes to sit reserves and cost is going to be a factor then maybe ask around there about crash pads. The only base at SWA that really has traditional cash pads is MDW. Others have a few here and there, but they are often either inhabited by FAs (red flag) or private rooms (expensive).
Any pilot who uses a crash pad at SWA is either in a private room situation or is a cheap bastard. Every base has some hotel deal under $100.
