That depends on where the base is and more importantly, how many locals live there. BNA is the most recent to go by. That initial batch of awards were almost exclusively locals with the draw down of the other domiciles based on where they commuted from. BNA had a lot of commuters. BNA also flexed up pretty quickly too. It will be interesting to see where it is and how fast they decide to staff it up. It also could be one of the smaller bases compared to the other domiciles as far as how many they staff it with. I would expect them to announce it and then the head of crew planning will send a video of the details soon after.
STL is always in the mix. I've heard TPA and AUS as well.
I could see SAN except it's in California and they are hard on companies.
Maybe one out in Hawaii to also announce SE Asia etc.

My guess is MCI or STL. I’d have to double check but I don’t think they can displace anyone to HNL so it’d have to be based strictly by volunteers. They’ve been pretty solid on no new CA bases. Doubt AUS or TPA due to proximity to other bases/Wx events.

Close oak (the crew base, not the station)…open new base, voila no additional CA bases!

I doubt any Florida bases will be added due to hurricane risk. Can’t have one wipe out several bases at once.
Im in the STL or MCI camp. SAN is an interesting idea but doubt it would open with LAX being so close.
Caviat as usual: what do I know?

I could remember when they said no CA bases anymore and then LAX came out of nowhere. Many of the ones you mentioned have plenty of RON’s per night and meet that criteria. What ever fits financially and operationally is what drives it. What ever they announce, MS of crew planning will probably do a deep dive on how’s and the why’s they picked it. I’m more interested in how big it will become or if will be a medium size base.
I don’t believe anything planning says anymore. Their video in July for back half of ‘25 said no more displacements out of DEN and they booted 12 in Oct. I sent a email to the Pilot Q&A email asking why and they said, “stuff changes…watch the next video to see what’s gonna happen”. I almost wrote back…why bother since your videos are a bunch of lies to begin with?
