We have plenty of pilots there who are all over LRF opportunities... Company puts out an SOS, you have a local out there who'll fly a redeye to the West Coast and then hop right back on Hawaiian and sleep on the way back to the islands. They'll bag some serious TFP for being gone from home maybe 15 hours or so....

Just here for my once monthly reminder that any new base that opens draws from existing bases, reducing seniority and open time flying.
I get that rumors are fun, but absent some huge unforecast growth in domestic capacity, which at this point would be financial suicide, new bases don't help anyone except the few crew that live close.
I will come back here and eat crow if there is some game changing announcement about exciting new flying to places we don't already go, but absent that, we are just becoming an airline that has more smaller bases to save on overnight costs. Given the whole regional chief pilot thing (lowers expensive staffing headcount at physical bases), it looks like that's the way it's headed.
