As I understood it the proposed SLI heavily favored the SWA pilots.
Segments of the AirTran pilots would have done relatively okay but others would have really taken it in the shorts. Hopefully the arbitrator will produce a more equitable integrated seniority list.

Does LUV even have to abide by what an arbitrator decides now? Since this was an acquisition and not a merger and AirTran is now a part of Guadalupe Holdings, what are Southwest's options?
I don't have a dog in this fight, but I think this was a very poor, but not a surprising, decision by the AirTran MEC. I thought Southwest made a very generous offer with their SLI proposal. AirTran pilots certainly stood to gain far more than than Southwest's pilots.
Now, assuming the lists are even merged, the best case scenario is that you're probably going to see a very bitter pilot group. That's too bad because that incurs an enormous cost of its own that can't be quantified on paper. Southwest's success in this industry can be attributed to their ability to foster a positive environment at work. That is probably not going to be the case anymore.

no a list is just a list swa does not have to implement it from the way i see it they had their chance gary will make quick work of this it also takes away the other groups having to bother with negotiations for now I would think that he offered them a one time deal they turned it down he will blame the pilots like he did with the frontier thing and MOVE ON!!!!

If you guys really believe that arbitration is not binding then you will be in for a long legal struggle. Why would you bother to be that childish? Arbitration is the process you go through when two sides do not agree. Obviously the fact that Air Tran F/Os would not upgrade for the next 9 years and that -ATL would see an influx of SWA pilots played a huge role in the AT decision.
Big boys and girls don't take their toys and run away when they lose a game. I have no idea how this will play out but I see a lot of whining from SWAPA already.

As a selfish Delta pilot, this is me watching the show...
We can't say we want AirTran pay raises until AirTran gets pay raises, but at the same time, I'd voted it down in a heartbeat too but you know, I could see why a SWA pilot would see the inequity in the merger.
So here we are.
Well, time for arbitration which means time for...

For the Southwest guys on here pretending to be ****ed off about the proposal, this should tell you that you're full of crap. The actual integration will be nowhere near as favorable to the Southwest pilots. The integration will happen.
