You said it I didn't.
Bunch of spoiled brats. FI has gone crazy. So much anger for something SWA pilots were HOPING for.
The fear of the SWA pilots is oozing out of the proverbial internet pores. I'm betting Gary Kelly doesn't do much about it in the end unless it's relative seniority. Too much integration has already taken place to back out of it now. Whole departments don't exist at AirTran anymore, they were all assimilated to DAL.
Got popcorn?

Dunno, don't go on FI. Can't imagine paying to read that stuff. If you think that SWA guys loved the deal, you have no idea what the SWAPA forums have been like over the last 2 weeks.
I think that you're right about not backing out. It would have to be more of an "operate separately" type of deal.
You're right about the spoiled brat thing. We have become used to working closely with management and I suppose that could be considered spoiled. Depending on how all this works out, that could be over.

Not all arbitrations have to turn out like US Airways. If they agree to a process, the unions reps provide accurate and honest information to their members, the process could be less painful. While u may not like the outcome, if the members understand how the arbitrator is assessing information from the get go, than the should not be really surprised.
The problem with the US Airways arbitration is the East from the get go told its members that they were assured DOH. They never informed their members that the arbitrator was not accepting DOH, even after the list was developed and the East was asked again to give a different position. Thus when the arbitration was posted, the East guys were expecting something close to DOH, if not DOH. This is were things fall apart.
SWAPA and Airtran just needs to provide as much accurate information is allowed under the law, I believe, to prevent a US Airways incident.
I feel for both groups. Most, if not all, will not agree with the arbitrator, which is good.

Listen, NO pilot in this scenario wants the cheese moved! But, why is it that the fates of 1500 need to cause the unrest of 6000? Seriously, just as AT guys want to have their seniority and LUVs pay and bennies; LUV folks want their upgrades and senority! A staple really isn't the answer either. That just causes animosity and distrust! But one group wanting the best of ALL worlds isn't right either. Why should a 9 year FO at LUV have to be held back because a 6yr Cappy at AT is now sitting to the left of him? AND what about the AT FO who applied at LUV twice and got turned down, is it FAIR that he is going to have a better seniority number and upgrade time than a FO on property? No matter what airline you are at you wouldn't like that!! What is equitable about that? Geez, nothing is gonna be fair and No one is going to get it "all". Nor should they! No one has the answer, not even the arbitrator. Until everyone involved is willing to yield in some way, it's going to be uncomfortable to say the very least. It's not fair. LIFE isn't fair! All folks involved need to start thinking how to best get along with the new "in-laws"! I bet if everyone involved did just that, we'd see we have a whole lot of the same worries!

This situation, and even more so the US/AWA one shows how much better we all would be with baseball arbitration instead of under the RLA. In case someone doesn't know what that is, each side produces a solution, the arbitrator picks one. It forces both sides to a reasonable middle ground position.
