And here I thought they did

The last vacancy (September) was supposed to have 78 upgrades on it according to CP. It had a big goose egg. This one only had 24. Still better than zero or furloughs, but.....

I received an email on the 17th of August saying WN would be at OBAP on the 12-14 of August. A little late I would say.

What I don't understand is why there aren't at least 2 classes bringing it up to near 50 new FO's for the October Vacancy bid. The second class that started on the 29th of Jul finish training around mid September giving them two weeks to get an LOE done and holding their artificial first hard Line in October.

There are 49 names on the System Seniority List from the 2 classes on 22 and 29 July. The 24 CA upgrades are coming from current FO's so add the net 25 new FO positions to those leaving to upgrade and that's where you get the 2 new hire classes bidding for the October vacancy.

My wife starts on September 16th.
Couple of questions I didn't see answers to when searching:

How long is training?

What's the training footprint like? Indoc, groundschool, sims etc...

Is anyone awarded anything other than OAK, LAS or PHX in new hire class? I understand it might take 3-6 months to get back to BWI which is close to home.

She has 6500 TT
2550 TPIC
GS instructor (part time)
Interviewed June 29th

No worries, there was a vacancy bid a few months ago where there were no new hires but there were CA spots. So it was 48 CA and -48 FO because there was a system wide net of 0 new pilots.

Training is around 7 weeks long with 2 weeks of indoc, 2 weeks of ground school, and 3 weeks of sims. All times are approximate. First month after training you can be awarded any base based on age in class. After that, most likely your first month will be one of the 3 west bases. Anyone's guess really how long to get to BWI, could be a couple of months or could be a year. My guess would be between 3-6 months.
