Southwest Hiring Info 2016
#1492
Just for you potential new hires, you all might want to know that the company put an offer on the table that had less monetary value than the shot down agreement. It included PBS for a B fund. Sick notes and less sick accrual. International code share with domestic partners. No reserve improvement (a biggie for new hires).
Buyer beware.

Contract
We're getting continuous moderate chop. We better pull the speed back. Man, this will really screw up our on time ratings. I still don't see the airport, tell them i want a turn on 5 outside the marker. Too bad we don't get crew meals. I'll take food orders and run in and get us all some chow. Hope the line isn't too long. I would hate to take a delay.

Agreed. The new SWAPA has basically revoked the company's line of credit with the pilots. All dealings henceforth are on a "cash-only" basis (that's to say no more favors, no side-letters, etc, until a new contract is passed....and maybe not even then!)
It's not Herb's airline anymore....
Still trying to shift my schedule to make Chi-Town on the 18th!

Back on topic guys. Everyone may have different motivations for wanting to come here. Maybe they live in a junior domicile, or maybe the other legacies just won't call. Hopefully everyone does their due diligence before accepting s job, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt and help each other out.

"Long term" is not a term I would use in the airline business. Any forecast beyond about 5 years is akin to using tarot cards or a Ouija board. The company has outgrown its folksy origins, but is still a good place to work and will be in the future. Just a few growing pains right now.
