In order to score an interview, you first have to get passed the computer...
Would be interested to know if there was a hang up in the computer system somewhere. Sitting on "received submission"

Not true. SWA has been stratifying their new hire ages for decades hence there's really no glut in retirements like there is at the legacies. I got hired a little over 17 years ago and the class ages were 26 on the low end and 52 at the high end.

Agree with SrBarco. Lots of pilots in their 40s and 50s have been hired over the last 3+ years. Myself included.

I was hired in 2015 and 40 at the time. I was in the middle of the 26.

I was 34 and 5 from the bottom. Youngest was 28 and would've retired #1 but quit to fly widgets after a few months.

Does anyone have the age of the current youngest pilot at Southwest? Interested to see where I would stand if I were hired sometime soon.

I sometimes wonder if being young is still a detriment as the hiring folks may fear that I (and other younger pilots) will want to bolt if the Big 3 call. I don't know how to properly convey that on an application that I have ZERO desire to fly wideobodies or long haul haha. I want to drive the 1.8 miles it is to the airport and am perfectly happy flying a 737 for 36 more years. I guess going to the Open House event is the only way to get my face in there and let them see I'm serious!

The youngest pilot here is 29 if I'm not mistaken. That is unless the most recent new hire class had someone younger.

Oldest in my class was 46 but classes ahead and behind us had pilots in their late 50's.

I started applying when I was 27. Unfortunately age 65 and a crappy economy made me wait 7 years. They told me in the interview that I'd been applying for a really long time....I joked they took their sweet time finding my number.

I was 26 when I got hired at my first major airline. I felt like I had won the lottery. Alas, Fate is the Hunter.

Well, you did! But like me, you ended up on the 20-year payout plan.
