If we're going to make an issue about it be concerned about our contract language saying they can keep renewing 90 day contracts. That is what's scary.

HR Diva here:

I just used this as an example in my HR course I teach.

Northwest spent $100 MM to hire, house and train 1,500 mechanics and 1,100 FA's anticipating a sympathy strike.

I remember reading all about it on a forum US Aviation where all employees participate.

I will be happy to look up the sources, but I found them via Google. Living through it made it easy to Google!

NWA never had that many "replacements" in training. The hotel in AZ got screwed big time during Chapter filing. The Judge clawed back the $300k in hotel money NWA spent. We were never allowed to call them Scabs! The term "replacements" was used. "Ops can you send a replacement to gate 41?" They knew very little about the aircraft and would tell you that openly.

The way I read the language they can do this for 90 days then take 1 day off and start again for another 90. Is there anything stopping them from doing this? If not, this really needs to be addressed for the new scope section.

This has been the language since the day most of us started here yet I'm running in to many that are surprised it exists. Read and know the contract. It's the only way to make an educated vote on a new one.

I think it's because it happens so rarely no one thinks about it but you're right, it's not an excuse.

Not looking to make excuses.. B.2 is still vaguely written on how the practical application is excercised, definitions Section 2 does not clear anything up either.
