So what your saying, contract expert, is that you don’t realize they could already do that to you on reserve, right now, under the current TA. It’s happened to me a couple of times and is completely legal under the current contract.
The difference being is that you were on a trip and couldn’t be rescheduled unless there was a cancellation, but yes you could be extended when you got back to base and called to checkout. By that time they usually had whatever issue of the day put out by an in base rsv or a gravy choker. With the TA and the looser rescheduling language a line holder is restricted to his trip footprint + 4hrs (the day trip in this example). A reserve is only limited to his RAP block. So you get to the outstation on the turn and get rescheduled into a six day trip. That couldn’t happen right now without a cancellation. |
I still don't get why y'all hate gravy chokers so much. Some want to make some money. Some want to drop middle reserve days and never work. It's almost like some are jelous that others work hard to make more money. I understand the backroom deals are not fair but what's wrong with some sweet homemade gravy once in a while?

No hate. I was just saying that’s how fires got put out before you returned to base to checkout. It actually helped to not have flying added when you got back to base on a day before day six. Now with no schedule integrity getting a reroute in an outstation MAY become more commonplace. Hope you packed for six days and not just a lunch.

Everyone is so worried about this rescheduling language. You do realize that if they pull you off a trip to do another trip, that they have to find someone to do your original trip? But yes on reserve you can think you are going out for a 2-day and it can turn into a 5-day. That can happen now. The difference from now vs the TA is that you won’t have schedule integrity so the 2-day can turn into a 5-day with a reschedule occurring on the first day. You are still on for 6 days and should pack as such. I don’t see this as a valid complaint.

Just like the Good ‘ole days XJT when I saw the Crew Trackers in the jetway after a 4 leg day, lol |

Fair point. Even without checkerboarding rsv is tolerable to desirable for someone living in base. It’s unknown if that will change. Right now one can tell their significant other with a fare amount of certainty when they will be home (at least the day) even if they get used all six days. Regional rsv was pack for a six day every time you went to the airport because you just never knew what was in store. Seeing double letter (AA) modifiers on pairings was common as you got moved around the system putting out schedulings fires. That was with positive contact rules as well. Guess what no one answered their phones so deadheads were cancelled, hotels cancelled, names removed from releases. Scheduling became the enemy. I hope if this TA passes we aren’t headed for that. But yeah for lineholders the rescheduling language doesn’t worry me as much as it does others.
I’m hoping someday that when we find ourselves in an irop (which is the only time this section will be used), that we want to help the company get back on track. Our incentive being “we care about our company”. Poor management practices have made us the opposition. They can talk about “team members” all they want, but when they can’t even properly book hotels and transportation for us (and fa’s), and then are in no hurry to rectify the situation when it is 11pm after a 10 hour day, then there will continue to be divisiveness. Why go the extra mile when the employees around you can’t even do their simple job? It’s not a big deal, except for the fact that you need them to do their job so you can do yours. |

Yeah I don’t think it will be commonplace. For one there are monetary incentives for us to be rescheduled, so many of us will pick up our phone (and call them back). But secondly, they can already reschedule you with a delay if 15 min. They could be doing this every day with that stipulation because they have the power to make the delay.

At this point, it'd take profit sharing to give 2 s#!+$ about the company's performance. The culture here isn't dead, it never existed.
